Innovation at the Core: Research and Development
At Solbari, our commitment to skin health begins with science. Our Australian research and development team engineers fabrics that deliver world-class sun protection without compromising on comfort, style or sustainability. Every product we create is backed by extensive R&D, combining dermatological insight, textile innovation and customer feedback.
Beyond protection, our R&D focuses on wearability, developing lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics that suit active lifestyles and sensitive skin. We invest in advanced fabric technologies that meet and exceed global standards.
A simple goal drives Solbari’s innovation: to empower people to enjoy the outdoors safely. Through continuous research, testing, and refinement, we remain at the forefront of sun-protective apparel, trusted by dermatologists, endorsed by global standards, and loved by customers worldwide.
Innovation in every thread: Fabric technology
At Solbari, fabric innovation is at the heart of our mission. Every batch of fabric undergoes rigorous testing to ensure there are no compromises in performance, protection, or quality. Our garments are designed to be fit for purpose, meeting the strict standards we set for durability, comfort and certified UPF 50+ protection.
We continuously explore new fabric technologies, carefully evaluating every element that contributes to superior UV protection, including colour, composition, weave and weight. We also assess breathability, skin sensitivity and real-world durability, ensuring our fabrics perform under everyday conditions.
Technical testing
The UPF testing is carried out at independent laboratories located around the world including Australia, which is accredited by Australia’s National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).
✓ Approved with the following Australian, American and international rating standards: AS/NZS 4399:1966, AS 4399:2020, AST D6544-2012/ASTM D6603 2012/AATCC 183-2014.
✓ A number of our fabrics are UV label approved, certified to retain its UPF 50+ rating after 50 washes and 120 hours of stimulated sunlight.
✓ Most of our fabrics are tested and approved with STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® and Bluesign, which certify that the fabric has been tested for non-regulated substances to ensure our products are free of harmful chemicals that are safe for people and the environment.
Dedication in every detail: Manufacturing process
Fabrics that pass our testing process are then put into production. Throughout the production process, multiple inspections are conducted to ensure we deliver high-quality products that meet our strict standards.
Every batch of fabric is continually tested for a UPF 50+ rating, giving you peace of mind that you’ll be protected from harmful UV rays when purchasing from Solbari.
We work closely with trusted manufacturing partners who share our commitment to quality, consistency and ethical production. From cutting to stitching, every step is carefully monitored to maintain the integrity of our sun protective technology and deliver garments built to last.
